Day 7: A fence!

Stephen and I created this fence out of discarded wodden pallets. The puppies have had the full run of the yard since we squeezed ourselves into this corner - but the kitties who live in the main house have been rather terrorized. Now the pups can have in-and-out access and their very own bit of the great outdoors - while the kitties feel safe.

I consider this a temporary fence - but it's not bad at all. All we did was drill holes through the horiziontal braces on the pallets and then ram rebar down through those holes and into the ground. it's a little bouncy - but by then attaching the pallets to each other it is pretty solid now. It certainly works.

Day 6: The routine continues

A busy and social day today.

Up early with coffee and eggs.

A little puttering in the yard.

Ran around with my kid, shopping for the PERFECT tennis shoes and then off to babysit the twins.

It was on to what my friends call "Beer Friday" - which is just a bar in the city that someone picks everyweek so we can all meet up and catch up about our week and our lives. It's a great way to end a week!

Day 5: We've got flap!

I installed an actual dog door flap on the gaping whole that's been the dog door up 'til now. I found this large dog door, brand new, still in the box for $10 on Craigslsit. Worth every penny!

Now I can just open the little door and not play doorman for Sam and Rupert. Although - with the rain I have to prod Sam to get him to go out. He's such a wuss!

Next, I'm gathering wood pallets to build a bit of a fence. Once I've got it done and I feel it's all secure, I'll be able to leave the pups at home once in awhile. Right now they basically go everywhere with me - and my poor car is showing the wear and tear that creates.

So far they love the ability to come and go as they please.
